Sewing and embroidery are classic Montessori activities.
It is one of the five areas of Montessori daily life education .
Cultivate children's basic housekeeping skills,
Prepare for the ability to sew buttons and clothes in the future
We choose thick knitting needles so that children can hold them more easily.
When children use their auxiliary hands to hold the sewing paper, they tend to wrinkle it by overexerting themselves. Therefore, we also use harder sewing paper to allow children to practice sewing better. After they have mastered the sewing skills, they can return to sewing on cotton cloth.
Flat stitch is the most common sewing method for mending clothes. It is also relatively simple and is the best choice for children to start practicing.
It is often seen when using a sewing machine. It is much stronger than a flat stitch. For example, when embroidering school numbers and patterns, backstitch is often used.
After the child has mastered the flat stitch sewing technique, you can let the child practice back stitching.
